Alternative event for the oil and gas industry looks like a success

Far more companies than expected have signed up for the first international network event for the oil and gas industry, OGIB 2012. This includes the three Danish operators on the North Sea as well as four international oil companies.

Close to 100 participants have already signed up for the first networking event for the oil and gas industry, OGIB (Oil & Gas International Business2Business Event). Offshore Center Danmark hosts the event in Esbjerg Performing Arts Centre, Denmark on May 23. The great number of participants more than meets the expectations of the organizers.

"We have already doubled the expected numbers of attendees for OGIB 2012. Previous experience shows us, that a large number of the participants enrol during the last month before the event, so things look very promising", says Morten Holmager, Development Manager, Offshore Center Danmark.

The high number of participants confirms the impression of Offshore Center Danmark that there is a need for of this type of event in the oil and gas industry. OGIB is the first event purely dedicated to networking in the industry. The participating companies can manage op to 17 meetings during the event and get the opportunity to meet up with the kind of businesses they wish for. During this the companies can clarify if there is reason to proceed with cooperation. The event is inspired by the offshore wind industry, for whom Offshore Center Danmark for the past five years have held a similar event. Last year turned out to be a success with more than 300 participants from 11 different nations.

OGIB is among others attended by several operators, including the three Danish operators Maersk Oil, DONG Energy and Hess as well as similar companies from abroad such as Statoil, TOTAL, Sonangol and Nunaoil. However, participants also count businesses from many other parts of the supply chain. One of them is Danbor Services in Aberdeen, a part of the Maersk Group. The company is responsible for logistics between Denmark and Aberdeen and other countries.
