Goal

To an increasing extent, small and medium-sized Danish companies (SME) see the offshore industry as a new and interesting market, and because of that they are strieving to be suppliers to the market. The market is considered as having a good growth and a reasonable return on investment.

The offshore sector is however highly technical and complex, which often can be seen as a high entrance barrier by a new SME.

This project will identify the entrance barriers and lower them.

The following industrial sectors are represented in the offshore sector: operators, offshore service and component providers, logistic and transport providers, HR, IT, materials providers of steel, aluminium, composites etc.

The project shall disseminate the knowledge of the offshore oil and gas industry for these new small and medium-sized companies. This shall be done through a professional and press focused effort.

The small and medium-sized companies frequently contact Offshore Center Danmark to get assistance and knowledge in connection with market activities for the offshore industry. For this purpose a new course with focus on the possibilities and challenges within the offshore industry, will also be established.

The project shall identify the opportunities for the companies. Focus will be directed to small and medium-sized companies in Denmark.

Description

The project has partners from Business Development Center West (EUvest), the University of Southern Denmark, the Fisheries and Maritime Museum as well as a selection of succesfull Danish growth companies to pave the way. The project is coordinated by Offshore Center Danmark.

Throughout the project new small and medium-sized companies as well as the members of Offshore Center Danmark will be informed about the offshore sector via press activities.

Also information about the financial government subsidies for Danish companies will be given. Through proactive efforts the knowledge to the following subjects will be spread out:

  • GTS-institutes (Approved Technology Service Institutes)
  • Knowledge pilot arrangements
  • Information Technology and High Technology Fund
  • Business PhD arrangements
  • Fundraising for development - national as well as through the European Union
  • Information - Student projects

The project is co-sponsored by the Danish Ministry of Science & Technology.
